My Sister is expecting her fourth child in about a month. It’s exciting to watch her family grow. My niece and nephews are super happy kids but wrangling them for photos can be challenging.
I’m happy to report we did manage to pull it off but maybe next time we’ll just eat the donuts during the photo shoot rather than saving them for the reward at the end. Look how nicely they stand side by side with those delicious treats.
There are definitely times when I wish we knew another photographer well enough that would take our family portraits. Of course, we don’t have the funds to pay someone else, so we get creative.
My family and I went down to the MN Landscape Arboretum on Saturday. We tried to take a few new photos with all of us in the shot. Got my wide angle lens out, balanced the camera on my backpack and took this fun one.
Our newest niece made her appearance into the world on Labor day. My family went up to visit and hold her when she was about 12 hours old. On her second day I went to the hospital with my camera to take my twin sisters new family photos with all five of them. When this little sweetie was a week old I spent her afternoon nap taking even more adorable portraits.
My twin sister is expecting her third child. I’m so excited for their new addition we’ll meet in a few short weeks. We went out the other night after dinner to capture a few family photos of just the four of them before they become a family of five. The youngest (about 19 months old) is quite the little powerhouse mover. It was a bit of a surprise to get so many photos of him sitting, but I also got some fun photos of him not wanting his picture taken.
I’ve known this family for a long time. They are some of the most generous and kind people. No wonder their kids are polite and well behaved. Their son was beyond helpful discussing who I should take pictures of, where to take the photos and he was only too happy to help hold my reflector. It was pretty fun to have an assistant on a family photo shoot and he even made sure we got a “couple shot” of his mom and dad. So sweet.
I just happen to have some terrific neighbors. Our kids are roughly the same ages and play together pretty nicely (most of the time). Today I switched hats and was their photographer instead of “the next door neighbor”. It was fun to capture all the spiky hair, goofy faces (not pictured above), love and laughter. Thankfully my camera skills are proving to be better than my knock-knock jokes.
